Requirements
GST Manager works on all Shopify plans (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Shopify Plus).
Before you install, ensure your store meets these four requirements:
1. India store registration
- Your store must have India set as its primary country under Settings → General.
- You must have a valid 15-character Indian GSTIN (e.g.
27ABCDE1234F1Z5).
2. Tax-inclusive (MRP) product pricing
- Product prices entered in your Shopify admin must already include GST.
- The app uses an always-tax-inclusive pricing model, back-calculating the taxable amount and GST split so the invoice total matches the amount paid.
3. Shopify native taxes set to 0%
- To avoid charging tax twice on the storefront, Shopify's built-in sales tax must be set to 0% for India.
- Follow our Configure Shopify taxes guide for the 5-step walkthrough.
4. Protected Customer Data approval (for auto-generation)
- Like all Shopify apps that process orders, GST Manager requires Protected Customer Data access to read customer addresses and GSTINs from webhooks.
- Live stores receive this during standard app installation.
- Development stores can enable it in Partner Dashboard under Apps → gst-manager → API access requests → Protected customer data.
- While approval is pending, you can still generate invoices manually using the Generate now button on any order.
