Quick setup wizard

When you open GST Manager for the first time, it automatically starts the Quick setup wizard. This takes 2–3 minutes and sets up your basic business details so your invoices are compliant from day one.

Step 1 of the Quick setup wizard in GST ManagerApps → GST Manager → Quick setup

Setup is required

Other app sections are locked until you complete these 4 steps. This ensures no orders are processed with missing or invalid tax information.

Step 1 — Tax & GST identity

  1. Company GSTIN — enter your 15-character GSTIN (e.g. 27ABCDE1234F1Z5). The first 2 digits automatically set your registered state.
  2. Legal name — enter your registered business name as it appears on your GST certificate.
  3. Registered state — check that the state matches your GSTIN prefix.
  4. Default GST rate (%) — enter your standard rate (usually 18). This is used as the default for products that don't have a specific rate assigned.
  5. Which lines feed the GST breakdown — select Tax only products marked taxable in Shopify (recommended).
  6. Click Next.

Step 2 — Address & contact

  1. Registered address — enter the business address that should appear in the supplier header on invoices.
  2. Contact email — enter the email address shown on invoices (pre-filled from your Shopify store settings).
  3. Click Next.

Step 3 — Invoice numbering

  1. Invoice prefix — enter your desired prefix. Use INV-FY- to automatically include the financial year (e.g. INV-2025-26-0001) or a simple INV- for sequential numbers.
  2. Credit note prefix — enter your prefix for refund documents (default: CN-).
  3. Financial year start month — leave as 4 for April (standard Indian fiscal year).
  4. B2CL threshold (₹) — leave as 250000 (₹2.5 Lakhs) for standard GSTR-1 large invoice reporting.
  5. Click Next.

Step 4 — Customer GST preferences

  1. Allow customers to provide a GSTIN — keep this turned On if you sell to business buyers (B2B). Turn it off only if you sell strictly B2C.
  2. B2B Companies (Pro) — if you use Shopify Plus B2B, turn this on to automatically pull tax IDs from Company profiles.
  3. Proforma PDFs (Pro) — choose whether B2B buyers can download proforma invoices before payment.
  4. Click Finish setup.

What to do next

Once setup is complete, you will land on the main Dashboard. Follow these next steps:

  1. Set Shopify taxes to 0% so taxes aren't double-counted.
  2. Enable the cart GSTIN embed if you want customers to enter GSTINs during checkout.
  3. Place a test order to verify your first invoice.
