Installation

Installing GST Manager takes about 5 minutes. There are no code edits, no files to upload, and no license keys to enter.

Shopify App Store → Add app

Step 1 — Install from the App Store

1. Open GST Manager on the Shopify App Store.
2. Click Install app (or Add app).
3. Review the permissions and click Install.
4. The app opens embedded directly inside your Shopify admin under Apps → GST Manager.

Step 2 — Complete the Quick setup wizard

On first open, the app launches a 4-step Quick setup wizard:

1. Tax & GST identity — enter your 15-character GSTIN, legal business name, and default GST rate (usually 18%).
2. Address & contact — verify your registered address and contact email.
3. Invoice numbering — choose your invoice prefix (e.g. INV- or INV-FY-) and starting number.
4. Customer GST preferences — choose whether to show the GSTIN input on your cart page.

Step 3 — Set Shopify taxes to 0%

GST Manager calculates GST directly from your product prices. To prevent Shopify from adding extra tax on top at checkout:

1. In Shopify admin, go to Settings → Taxes and duties.
2. Set India (and every state/region rate) to 0%.
3. Turn off "Include sales tax in product price" and "Charge tax on shipping rates".

Step 4 — Enable the cart GSTIN block (optional)

If you want customers to enter their GSTIN on your store:

1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. Click Customize next to your active theme.
3. In the left sidebar, click App embeds (the third icon).
4. Turn on Collect Customer GST.
5. Click Save in the top right.

Step 5 — Place a test order

1. Place a test order on your storefront.
2. In Shopify admin, open Apps → GST Manager → Orders.
3. Click your test order to preview and download the generated tax invoice.
4. Check that the CGST/SGST or IGST amounts match your expectations.
