Troubleshooting
This page walks through the problems you're most likely to hit and the exact fix for each. If you see a specific message, the error reference explains what each string means word for word. New to a term like GSTIN (your 15-character GST registration number) or IGST/CGST/SGST (the inter-state / central / state parts of GST)? The overview has a quick vocabulary.
The setup wizard keeps appearing
The 7-step wizard takes over the GST Manager area until your settings are genuinely complete — it doesn't just remember which buttons you clicked, it checks what you've actually configured.
- Finish it. Work through to step 7, or use the Skip setup escape hatch to leave it for later. Either way the wizard stops taking over the area.
- Step 3 (GSTIN & Tax Rules) is the only blocking step. You must enter a valid 15-character GSTIN and pick your registered state from the dropdown. An invalid GSTIN is shown in red at the top of the step and blocks you until it's fixed.
- After an upgrade the wizard doesn't run, but if the area still nags you, confirm your GSTIN and your Footer & Identity details are set under Addons → GST Manager → System Setup.
TIP
You don't have to do everything in the wizard. Anything you set later under System Setup counts as done, and the wizard will pick up where you left off from Global Settings → Setup Wizard → Continue Setup.
The dashboard banner still lists something
The dashboard setup banner only lists what is genuinely unconfigured, and it disappears on its own once nothing is left. Match each listed item to the fix below.
- GSTIN — enter a valid 15-character GSTIN and choose your state from the dropdown under System Setup → Tax & GST. A malformed GSTIN keeps the item on the banner.
- Company identity — set your own phone, email, PAN and CIN/LLPIN under System Setup → Footer & Identity. If they still match the shipped sample placeholders (like
+91-1234567890or PANABCDE1234F), they count as unconfigured — replace them. - Bank details — configure at least one currency's remittance/bank details under System Setup → Bank Details.
- Invoice templates — only the active theme counts. Deploy templates to it from Global Settings → Sync Status if the banner still flags templates.
Templates aren't deploying (sync issues)
GST invoice templates are copied into your WHMCS theme(s). If invoices don't look right:
- Open Global Settings → Sync Status and read the Theme Sync Status table — the
invoicepdf.tplandinvoicepdffooter.tplcolumns show which files are in place per theme. - Use the per-theme Sync action, or Sync All, to push the current templates.
- Turn on Auto-Sync so templates redeploy automatically when a mismatch is detected.
INFO
Only the active theme has to match for invoices to render correctly, so start there.
Addons → GST Manager → Global Settings → Sync Status
Tax is wrong on an invoice
GST Manager generates the WHMCS tax rules for you, but WHMCS still applies them based on the client's location.
- Check the rules exist under WHMCS's own tax rules (IGST 18% for India; CGST 9% + SGST 9% for your registered state).
- IGST vs CGST/SGST is decided by the client's state. For a client in your registered state, CGST + SGST applies; for a client in another Indian state, IGST applies. If the split looks wrong, check that client's state on their profile.
- Line-item codes coming out wrong? Review your SAC codes (which classify a service for tax) and Purpose Codes under Addons → GST Manager → Item Rules.
Updates won't apply
Run updates from Global Settings → Update Status → Check for Updates → Update Now. If it fails:
- Make sure
modules/addons/gst_manager/is writable by the web user. - Confirm your license is Active. For a Lifetime license, updating also needs an active Support & Updates subscription — the current version keeps working either way.
- A transient "Could not verify your license right now…" just means the licensing server was briefly unreachable — wait a moment and retry Update Now.
See the error reference for the full update/license message family.
"ionCube Loader required" on every page
If GST Manager pages show:
ionCube Loader required. Contact [email protected]
your server is missing (or running too old) an ionCube Loader. WHMCS's own minimum loaders already satisfy GST Manager, so ask your host to install/enable the ionCube Loader for your PHP version, then reload. Details in the error reference and requirements.
Client bank details not showing on invoices
The bank details on the client-area invoice view are license-gated.
- Confirm your license shows Active under Global Settings → License Information.
- Confirm at least one currency's bank details are set under System Setup → Bank Details.
The check runs locally, so a brief licensing-server outage won't switch it off; if the license is genuinely inactive, renew or re-enter your key to restore the feature. Your invoicing and reports keep working regardless.
