Error reference
Search this page for the exact wording you saw. Each entry quotes the message verbatim, explains what it means, and tells you what to do. For step-by-step fixes, see Troubleshooting.
ionCube Loader
ionCube Loader required. Contact [email protected]
What it means: The GST Manager release is ionCube-encoded, and your server is missing an ionCube Loader or running one that's too old for your PHP version.
What to do: Ask your host to install/enable the ionCube Loader for your PHP version, then reload the page. WHMCS's own minimum loaders already satisfy GST Manager (PHP 8.2 → 13.0.2, PHP 8.3 → 14.4.0; Loader 15.x also works). See Requirements.
Activation
"Activation failed. Check activity log for details."
What it means: Something went wrong while activating the addon under Setup → Addon Modules — for example, the database tables, templates, hooks or tax rules couldn't be set up.
What to do: Open the WHMCS Activity Log for the specific error, resolve it (commonly file permissions or PHP requirements), and activate again. If it persists, contact [email protected] with the log entry.
Update & license messages
These appear around Global Settings → Update Status and License Information. Your installed version keeps working through all of them; they only affect updating.
"Your Support & Updates plan has expired…"
What it means: Your Lifetime license's Support & Updates entitlement has lapsed.
What to do: Your current version keeps working forever — renew Support & Updates to install newer versions. See Licensing.
"Could not verify your license right now…"
What it means: The licensing server was briefly unreachable. This is transient.
What to do: Wait a moment and retry Update Now. No action is needed if you weren't trying to update.
"… is published but its download is not yet available"
What it means: A new release has been announced, but its installer isn't live yet.
What to do: Nothing — Update Now stays disabled until the download is ready. Try again later.
"Failed to download update…"
What it means: The update package couldn't be downloaded — usually outbound HTTPS is blocked, or the build isn't authorised for your license.
What to do: Allow outbound HTTPS from your server, confirm your license is Active, and retry. If it continues, contact [email protected].
"Backup verification failed…"
What it means: The pre-update backup couldn't be verified, so the update stopped before changing anything.
What to do: Check that the install directory is writable and that you have enough disk space, then retry Update Now.
Setup wizard
On step 3 (GSTIN & Tax Rules), an invalid GSTIN (your 15-character GST registration number) is shown in red at the top of the step. This step is blocking — enter a valid 15-character GSTIN and pick your registered state to continue. See Troubleshooting.
