Error reference

Every message Relyagent might show, quoted exactly, with what it means and what to do. Use your browser's find (⌘F / Ctrl-F) to jump to a message. For step-by-step fixes, see Troubleshooting.

MCP below means the Model Context Protocol — how your AI client talks to the tools Relyagent exposes from WHMCS.

Runtime messages (seen by the AI client)

HTTP 403 on the MCP or OAuth endpoints

What it means: the MCP server is license-gated, and your Relyagent license is inactive or removed, so no client can connect or call tools. A brief licensing-server outage does not cause this — the check runs locally.

What to do: open Addons → Relyagent → Settings → License and renew or re-enter your key. Service resumes as soon as the license is active.

HTTP 429

What it means: the connection hit a rate cap — too many calls per minute or per day for that token.

What to do: raise Calls / minute or Calls / day under Settings → MCP Settings, or have the client slow down.

Missing required scope: <scope>

What it means: the connection wasn't granted the tool (and its scope) that was called. <scope> is the specific permission, such as clients:read or invoices:write.

What to do: edit the connection under MCP Clients and tick the tool. Because this adds a tool, the client must reconnect and re-consent afterwards.

This tool is disabled. Enable dangerous operations in Relyagent settings.

What it means: a state-changing (dangerous) tool was called while Dangerous Operations is off. These tools stay off by default.

What to do: turn on Dangerous Operations under Settings → MCP Settings and confirm the tool is ticked on the connection. Enable this deliberately — it lets tools modify your WHMCS data.

Tool group disabled: <group>

What it means: the tool's group (for example, Invoices or Tickets) is toggled off in your settings, so none of its tools list or run.

What to do: re-enable the group under Settings → MCP Settings.

ionCube Loader required. Contact [email protected]

What it means: the encoded module can't load because your server is missing the ionCube Loader or has one that's too old.

What to do: ask your host to install/enable the ionCube Loader for the PHP version WHMCS runs on (13.0.2+ on PHP 8.2, 14.4.0+ on PHP 8.3). See Requirements.

Update and license messages (seen in the WHMCS admin)

Could not verify your license right now — the licensing server was unreachable.

What it means: a transient outage — our licensing server couldn't be reached for this check. Your working install keeps running because the license check runs locally.

What to do: nothing urgent; retry later. If it persists, confirm outbound HTTPS from your server isn't blocked.

Your Support & Updates plan has expired or is not active. Renew it to install updates. Your current version continues to work normally.

What it means: for a Lifetime license, the Support & Updates entitlement has lapsed. Your installed version keeps working; only installing a newer version is blocked.

What to do: renew Support & Updates to install updates again. See Licensing.

… is published but its download is not yet available

What it means: a new release has been announced but its installer isn't live yet, so Update Now stays disabled.

What to do: wait and check again shortly — nothing is wrong with your install.

Failed to download update…

What it means: the update couldn't be downloaded — usually outbound HTTPS is blocked, or the build isn't authorised for your license.

What to do: allow outbound HTTPS from your server and confirm your license/entitlement is active, then retry.

Backup verification failed…

What it means: the pre-update backup didn't verify, so Relyagent stopped before changing anything. Your install is untouched.

What to do: ensure modules/addons/relyagent/ is writable and there's enough free disk space, then try the update again.

Connection problems (no single message)

"Authorization Failed" / a client won't connect

What it means: the OAuth authorization didn't complete.

What to do: paste the Client ID and Client Secret (not just the Endpoint URL), confirm the exact Endpoint URL, sign in at your WHMCS admin login, and approve the consent screen. Full checklist on Troubleshooting.

Tools missing in the client

What it means: the tool isn't granted to the connection, its group is off, or it's a dangerous tool called with Dangerous Operations off.

What to do: tick the tool, re-enable its group, or enable Dangerous Operations as needed — then reconnect the client after adding any tool.

TIP

Can't find your message here? It may be a WHMCS-level error rather than a Relyagent one — check your WHMCS module log, and turn on Verbose Debug Logging in Settings → General for more detail.
