# Licensing

PayGlocal Recurring ships with one of two license types. Both unlock the full gateway; they differ
in how updates and long-term use work. This page covers the two license types, what the license
gates on this gateway, and where to enter and manage your key.

## The two license types

| Type | What you get | Updates |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Leased** | Works while the license is active. | Updates included for as long as it stays active. |
| **Lifetime** | Perpetual use of the installed version — you own it forever. | Newer versions need an active **Support & Updates** plan. |

## The license-gated feature

On this gateway the **license-gated feature is payment processing itself**. Because PayGlocal
Recurring collects money for you, the one thing the license controls is whether it can take
payments at all.

The license check runs **locally in the background** when a payment is initiated, so a brief
outage of the licensing server won't affect your storefront. If the license is genuinely
**inactive**, payment processing is **disabled** until it's active again — new mandates aren't
created and the daily cron won't charge existing ones. The installed version otherwise keeps
working, and a Lifetime license is perpetual, so re-entering or renewing your key restores
processing straight away.

::: warning Keep the license active
While the license is inactive, recurring charges pause. Renew or re-enter your key promptly so
renewals keep collecting.

## Where to enter and manage your key

You enter the key in the gateway configuration, not an addon panel. Go to
**Setup → Payment Gateways → PayGlocal Recurring** and paste your key into the **License Key**
field, then click **Save Changes**.

* Your key comes from **relyweb.co** when you buy PayGlocal Recurring.
* Your server needs **outbound HTTPS to relyweb.co** so the license can be checked. If activation
  fails, re-check the key and confirm the server can reach relyweb.co over HTTPS.

The License Key field sits alongside your Merchant ID and key paths on the same gateway page, so
you can set everything up in one place.
