# Updates

GST Manager is a **cloud-hosted app**. All updates, bug fixes, and new features roll out automatically on our servers.

## Zero maintenance required

* **Automatic updates:** You never need to download new files, overwrite code, or upload zip packages.
* **Always on the latest version:** When you open the app in your Shopify admin, you are always using the most recent release.
* **Your settings are safe:** Updates never alter your saved business details, invoice sequences, or product tax rates.

## If Shopify asks for updated permissions

Occasionally, a major new feature may require an additional Shopify permission (for example, reading a new type of order data).

When this happens:

1. A standard Shopify notification will appear the next time you open the app.
2. Click **Update app** (or **Approve**) to grant the new permission.
3. You will be redirected immediately back to your dashboard.

This is a standard Shopify security procedure ensuring apps cannot access new store data without your explicit approval.

## Viewing release history

To see what has changed across recent versions:

* Check the in-app announcement banner on your dashboard.
* Read the official [Changelog](/gst-manager-shopify/changelog).
* Check the version notes on the Shopify App Store listing.
